Pastor Bruce Smith

Since receiving his call in 2004, Bruce Smith is now the longest-tenured pastor in the 175-year history of the Central Congregational Church. He was raised in a Christian home and came to know Jesus as his personal savior when he was a child.  He has received degrees from the Moody Bible Institute (B.A.), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.Div), and Southern Seminary (D.Min).  Before his time at Central, he served as pastor of a congregation in Vancouver, British Columbia, and as a chaplain in the Chicago area.

His mission is to help everyone he knows grow to their full spiritual potential in Christ. His favorite authors are D. A. Carson, A.W. Tozer, and Martyn Lloyd-Jones. When he’s not doing church work, you will find him spending time with his wife and six kids, participating in sports, or reading.
